Hello from the Campbells!

Dear Neighbors, 

Hi, we are David and Brenna Campbell and have been Vista Oaks homeowners since 2000. Our first home was on Ashmere Cove and then we moved to Honey Bear Loop… even used our little red wagon to move stuff! 

We have raised 5 children in Vista Oaks.  

During the 24 years of VO home ownership we were sent on 2 expat assignments with Dell Inc. that brought our family to Japan, but we have always considered Vista Oaks our home.

We want to share our reasons that we will be voting against the trail. Although we can’t compete with the professional Wilco literature, we still want to share our own reasons here.

We are against a 10 ft. concrete path and 5 ft. easement on either side cutting through our neighborhood greenbelt.

Here are our two main concerns specifically surrounding the impact to Honey Bear Park and our Greenbelt:

1. Privacy will be compromised. It has been a haven for our 5 children and hope it will remain so for all current and future Vista Oaks parents and grandparents.  Honey Bear Park and the greenbelt through our neighborhood are currently restricted only to Vista Oaks residents and their guests.  This privacy would be lost with a public county path. We believe that parents will also need to significantly increase diligence in monitoring their children and grandchildren. This will decrease the enjoyment of Honey Bear Park.
2. The Honey Bear Park and greenbelt Natural Environment will be impacted. Replacing the current primitive path with a 10 ft wide concrete path and additional 5 ft easement on either side will diminish green space and impact wildlife. Our beloved Texas wildflowers will be significantly reduced. A wide concrete path will be visually bright, generate more heat and increase road noise. Our greenbelt is so beautiful the way it is now.
